Insure Your Second Home with Holiday Home Insurance

Article by Henry Bell

Owning a holiday home is like a dream come true for many people in UK. It has been estimated that almost 500000 people in UK own a holiday home either in Spain, Turkey etc. Along with this excitement of owning a holiday home, you should also take proper measures to ensure its safety. These holiday homes are more prone to risks like burgling, liability etc. So, if you own or are planning to buy a holiday home abroad like Spain, France etc and even in UK, you should certainly purchase a holiday home insurance policy.

Most standard or normal policies do not cover holiday homes or second homes. For this you will need a holiday home insurance. Different types of cover that are included in holiday home insurance are:

*Home contents insurance: With this holiday home insurance cover, the insurance company will provide the costs of replacement or repairing of the contents of the holiday homes if they get damaged somehow or the other.

*Building insurance: With this cover the building structure of your holiday homes. It will also cover the trees, shrubs, and sheds etc. that are present within the compound of your holiday home.

*Liability cover: This type of cover in holiday home insurance policy is to cover the expenses of treatments of the domestic servants, cleaners etc if they get injured during their work in your holiday homes.

Though it is true that you can purchase holiday home insurance from the place where your holiday home is, it is a much better option to buy this insurance from UK. This is because of the use of different language in that place. This can be a deterrent to obtaining a perfect holiday home insurance policy. By purchasing a holiday home insurance plan from UK, you can overcome this language problem; also the entire document will be in English and all the claims will be handled in UK.

As it has been told earlier that holiday home insurance will not be covered under your normal policy, so to avail this insurance, you need to do a thorough and detailed study of all the companies that provide holiday home insurance. The internet is an easy way to get access to all these information. With all the companies having their own websites, you can now sit in your home or office and can do the searching and sometimes even the buying part. So go get a holiday home insurance now.

Escaping from the Winter Grey? Home Protection While on Holiday

Escaping from the Winter Grey? Home Protection While on Holiday

(PRWEB) January 26, 2008

Many Britons are preparing to grab a short getaway to escape the dreary weather — and the last thing they want is to worry about unforeseen breakdown problems at home. Homeserve have launched their HomeMinder Cover to protect against just that.

New research from Homeserve, specialists in home emergency repairs and insurance, reveals that more than a quarter of Brits (28%) have returned from a short break or holiday to find a nasty surprise waiting for them, with breakdowns such as broken boilers, failed appliances and electrical faults being the most commonly cited home emergencies.

The findings come as temperatures across the UK plummet, a factor which will undoubtedly spell trouble for many homeowners as boilers and central heating are turned up to the max. The company says that those people planning to leave their home during winter have to consider that icy temperatures can freeze and in some cases burst water pipes. This can lead to some serious leak damages.

Homeserve research found that Top Ten Post-Holiday Calamities are:

1)    Boiler and central heating problems

2)    Failure of appliances such as white goods

3)    Electrical problems such as power failure

4)    Burst pipes

5)    Evidence of break in or attempted break in

6)    Blocked drains

7)    Broken windows or doors

8)    Damage to the roof

9)    Pest invasions

10)    Lost house keys

The hotspots for post-holiday home emergencies were the South East of England (32%) and the West Midlands (30%), where nearly one in three holidaymakers have returned to find a disaster awaiting them. Those least likely to return to a home emergency were those in the North East of England where one in five can expect household calamities on their return (20%).

In light of this, Homeserve have introduced a new policy to offer peace of mind to winter holidaymakers. The new HomeMinder Policy provides up to six weeks’ cover against home emergencies commonly experienced while policyholders are on holiday or discovered on their return.

This cover has been developed to provide protection against home emergencies usually not covered by home buildings and contents insurance. It also provides welcome simplicity if a problem does occur while away – the policyholder nominates a key holder who checks on the property. If a repair is needed, they need only call a 24/7 free number to arrange a convenient time for a reliable tradesman to be on hand.

Jon Florsheim, CEO, Homeserve GB said: “There’s always a sense of disappointment when holidays end and the last thing anyone needs is to return home to frozen pipes or broken down heating. We’d urge people to check the level of cover on their existing home insurance and take out additional cover if necessary.”

So, with many about to make their great escape, it’s wise to think about home repair protection.

Assetsure launches Holiday Home Insurance Scheme

Assetsure launches Holiday Home Insurance Scheme

London United Kingdom (PRWEB) May 3, 2007

Assetsure Limited, the United Kingdom Insurance Intermediary, has today launched a holiday home insurance for persons that own property in Spain, Portugal, Malta or Gibraltar. They hope to be able to extend the scheme shortly to cover other European countries. Holiday home ownership is on the increase particularly in Spain and assetsure.com has a policy that will cover property that is either rented out or occupied by expatriates.

A representative of Assetsure advised us, “Sourcing insurance for overseas property has always presented problems; most people prefer to have a policy that is written in their native tongue. All of our policies are written in plain English and all claims are handled by English speaking advisors.

“Our policy wording has been developed over many years and is in direct response to the needs of homeowners living abroad, our contract responds to these local needs by taking care of local covers and taxation issues as well as providing a wide range of insurance perils including liabilities.

“One of the key advantages of the Assetsure holiday home insurance policy is that it is able to cater for flats & apartments as well as whole buildings, we will be interested to hear from anyone that owns property abroad whether it is a single flat or a whole portfolio or any company that is interested in doing business with us in continental Europe.”

The representative went on to state that they were keen to develop links with the expatriate community and could offer a range of expatriate insurance policies such as Health Care and Travel that were especially designed for British Expats.

A visit to the Assetsure web site will show they are a little different from the usual insurance intermediary, instead of targeting the high volume insurance business such as motor and standard homeowners, they provide quotations for niche products and some of the insurances they are able to arrange are listed on the site although they were at great pains to point out that they are interested in quoting on any type of property business.

Quite a lot of thought and knowledge has been used in the design and build of the website, the content appears not to be your usual re-hashed text and the writers are providing useful & helpful articles that are mainly property biased. If you are finding it difficult to arrange property insurance or need general information about a property related topic, these people may be able to help you.
